Houston Film Critics’ Society Awards 2013

January 6th, 2013 - Graham Eley

‘Argo’ continued its strong showing in the awards season by taking the top prize at the Houston Film Critics’ Society Awards for its seventh ‘best film’ win of the winter.  Ben Affleck also picked up best director but his Iranian hostage drama missed out on best supporting actor (Alan Arkin) and best screenplay.

Jennifer Lawrence won her tenth best actress award for Silver Linings Playbook, which puts her just one behind Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty) in the seasons’ tally.

Steven Spielberg’s historical epic ‘Lincoln’ lead the nominations with eight and converted best actor (Daniel Day-Lewis), best supporting actor (Tommy Lee Jones) and best screenplay into wins.

Anne Hathaway continued her domination of the best supporting actress category with another win for her performance in Les Miserables.
