Lionsgate’s ‘The Texas Chainsaw 3D’ topped the North American box office on its Friday debut after grossing a respectable estimated $10.2m in line with expectations.  The massacre horror was only a tad short of the $10.6m that the first remake returned ten years ago and it outperformed the 2006 prequel by almost $3m.  With the Friday opening likely to generate a disproportionately high interest, takings should fall away during the weekend, leaving a three day tally in the region of $22m.

‘Django Unchained’ and  ‘Les Misérables’ will both comfortably cross the $100m mark over the weekend.  The Boxing Day openers grossed an estimated $6.2m and $4.9m respectively in strong holds on Friday, which leaves ‘Django’ a fraction ahead overall.

‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ split the two films on Friday after falling from the top spot to third place.  It was down 51% on an estimated $5.23m but it still represents a decent return for its fourth Friday in play.

‘Parental Guidance’ continued to perform nicely, adding an estimated $3.13m on Friday, representing a modest fall of 38%.  The Billy Crystal/Bette Midler comedy currently stands at $45.8m.

It was ‘Zero Dark Thirty’, though, that grabbed the headlines with an outstanding estimated $13,750 per-theatre average after expanding to sixty locations on Friday.  Kathryn Bigelow’s controversial portrayal of the search for Osama bin Laden could finish the weekend at approximately $2.6m.ampicillin rash ampicillin toxicity ampicillin injection ampicillin interactions ampicillin for acne ampicillin usage ampicillin capsules
