‘After Earth’ fails to make impression

‘Fast & Furious 6’ had an easy win at the North American weekend box office when ‘After Earth’ failed to mount its expected challenge.  Universal’s car action thriller followed its spectacular Memorial weekend debut with an acceptable $34.5m for a new domestic running total of $170.4m.

Louis Leterrier’s ‘Now You See Me’, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo and Woody Harrelson, sneaked second place after grossing an outstanding $28.1m during its debut weekend.  Benefiting from an ‘A-’ CinemaScore, the bank heist thriller finished $10m higher than pre-release predictions.

By contrast, ‘After Earth’, the weekend’s only other wide opener, came in $10m lower than expectations after a disappointing ‘B’ CinemaScore.  M. Night Shyamalan’s high budget sci-fi action adventure, with the father and son pairing of Will and Jaden Smith, only returned $27m by Sunday night.

Next weekend sees the arrival of Fox’s comedy, ‘The Internship’ starring Owen Wilson, and Universal’s thriller, ‘The Purge’ with Ethan Hawke.buy domperidone new zealandmotilium cheappurchase motiliummotilium buy uk
