Joseph Kosinski’s ‘Oblivion’, coming off a strong No. 1 opening last weekend, grossed a respectable $5.1m in second place. The sc-fi adventure should take approximately $17m over the three days.
Brian Helgeland’s ’42’ grossed a further $2.9m at the start of its third weekend. The Jackie Robinson biopic, which has benefited from very positive word of mouth, looks on course for a $10m weekend.
The weekend’s other wide opener, ‘The Big Wedding’, could only muster $2.5m notwithstanding an all-star cast, including, amongst others, Robert DeNiro, Diane Keaton and Susan Sarandon.
