Safety in recycling the past continued at the North American box office with the weekend’s two wide releases being a remake and a 3D re-release.
There was a solid start for a remake of ‘Evil Dead’, grossing $11.9m from the Thursday midnight screenings and Friday. The R-rated horror, which the original’s director, Sam Raimi, is co-producing, will be front-loaded but should still finish the weekend on $26m.
The latest 3D re-release of a blockbuster, this time Steven Spielberg’s ‘Jurassic Park’, made a confident start on Friday by exceeding expectations on $7m. Universal will be looking for close to $20m by the end of the three days.
‘Jurassic’ is embroiled in a tight three-way battle with two former No. 1’s for the weekend’s second place. Paramount’s action sequel, ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’, had a lukewarm second Friday grossing just $6.7m. Although the caveman adventure, ‘The Croods’ came in at less on $5.8m, it will perform stronger during the remainder of the weekend on the back of family audiences.sildalis canada buysildalis in usabuy sildalis usasildalis usa
