‘A Good Day to Die Hard’ – $7.2m

‘A Good Day to Die Hard’ marginally finished top of Friday’s North American box office but its $7.2m return was at the lower end of expectations.  The action thriller has received strong P & A support to enhance the franchises already established fan base.

By contrast, ‘Safe Haven’, the latest film from veteran Swedish filmmaker, Lasse Hallström (‘Salmon Fishing in the Yemen’, ‘The Cider House Rules’ and ‘My Life as a Dog’), over-performed in second place.  The romantic mystery emerged as a strong contender to win the weekend box office after grossing $7.15m on Friday

Last weekend’s No 1, ‘Identity Thief’, came in third but still returned a strong $6.5m for a drop of just 41%.  Seth Gordon’s crime comedy has now grossed

an impressive $53.8m after eight days in play.

Weinstein’s Escape from Planet Earth had a quiet Friday opening without hype and earned a solid $3.7m.  The adventure animation looks set to gross in excess of $12m over the three days.gel lyte v v-gel v gel candid v gel
