International box office (February 1-3, 2013)

Quentin Tarantino’s Oscar nominee, ‘Django Unchained’ retained its No I position at the international weekend box office after grossing a further $30.6m from 65 markets.  Germany and France again proved the controversial Western’s two most successful territories with strong No 1 holds of $6.4m and $4.9m respectively.  The weekend saw it pass the $150m mark internationally overall.

 

‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’ continued its strong international performance, returning a further $15m from 36 markets after three weekends in play.  The fantasy adventure’s international running total increased to $62.5m, and, after factoring in North America, it stands $3m short of the $100m mark worldwide.
