‘Monsters University’ and ‘World War Z’ both exceeded expectations on their North American openings, leaving the weekend box office in line for a bumper weekend.
Disney’s ‘Monsters Inc’ sequel’, with Billy Crystal and John Goodman returning, received an ‘A’ CinemaScore on its way to grossing a powerful $30m on Friday. With strong word of mouth and family audiences arriving for weekend screenings, it could reach as high as $80m over the three days.
‘World War Z’, starring Brad Pitt, got out of jail on Friday after its well documented budget overruns and production disasters and returned a mighty impressive $25m in second place. Marc Forster’s Zombie pandemic thriller, which bagged a respectable ‘B+’ CinemaScore, should hit the $65m mark by Sunday night, being $15m more than anticipated. A few weeks ago, it seemed to be heading for less than $40m until a huge marking boost led to revised market forecasts.
Last weekend’s No 1, ‘Man of Steel’ earned a further $12.4m in the No.3 spot, leaving it on pace for a slightly disappointing three day $42m. The 70% fall partly reflects the huge turnout upon its opening and the Superman adventure already stands on $181m domestically.
Seth Rogen’s ‘This is the End’ had an impressive second week hold, falling only 41% for a $4.1m return. It should finish the weekend close to $14m.Buy silvitra in usaBuy silvitra australiasilvitra buy online uk silvitra uk
