‘The Heat’, starring Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock, exceeded expectations at the North American box office, grossing $13.6m on its Friday opening. It leaves the crime comedy a mere $0.7m behind ‘Monsters University’, but from 822 less theatres.
Pixar’s ‘Monsters Inc’ prequel, nevertheless, should pull ahead further over the weekend, taking advantage of Saturday and Sunday family audiences. It is currently on course for a strong second week hold around the $48m mark, with Paul Feig’s ‘Bridesmaids’ follow-up still likely to post an impressive tally of $40m in second place.
The other wide weekend opener, ‘White House Down’, starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx, made a disastrous start, only earning $9m on Friday. This could leave Roland Emmerich’s high budget action thriller struggling to reach $25m by Sunday evening.
‘World War Z’, which was going neck and neck with ‘White House Down’ on Friday, should have stronger staying power over the three days, for a reasonable $28m second weekend.silvitra costocost of silvitrasilvitra tabletsBuy silvitra tablets
